Are police officer jobs in demand in Ohio?

I am thinking of becoming a police officer. I have a bachelors degree in business, I am 24, I have not attended the academy yet, and I live in Akron,Ohio. My question is are police officer jobs in demand in Ohio? I can't seem to find a lot of job postings for them. Do cities usually hire in spurts, or particular times during the year, and are most officer jobs posted publicly? Thank you!
