Looking for name of old B & W horror movie?

There is a scene in this movie where one of the characters, at the top of some stairs, encounters this old hag/witch/crone. She doesn't say anything, but after scaring this guy you-know-what less she then just speeds out of the scene. It's almost comical looking, as though she is on roller skates or a track -- with no kind of stepping or movement whatsoever.
