Need advice about ring bearer?

Our 20 month old son(who loves the outdoors) is our ring bearer, to our outdoor ceremony, any ideas to keep him down the aisle and stay put during the ceremony so he doesn't run around on the gr? our mothers will be in front, is it ok for him to sit on one of their laps?
