Urbz: Sims in the City. Placing bed in penthouse.?

I have played the game through as a "Streetie" The penthouse looked a lot more 'rugged' than it does when playing as a richie, the only problem is, I can't seem to place the bed I "put into pocket" from the second floor (Law Offices) It comes up with a message saying "You cannot place this item here!" This is even before it shows a plan of the bed on the floor (the yellow and red box) The message appears over the top of the inventory menu. Any help as to how I can place this bed please?!
