Help with a title of a book?

I can't remember the title of a book where there are two kids who discover that they have psychic abilities and can hear each others thoughts because their mothers where at a hotel where aliens visited and they were affected by some waves or something then they find a little boy and his dog who have the same thing but can't talk except telepathically. Then there was something about a ferris wheel. Anyway, does anyone know the title or author of this book. 10 points to best answer of course.
