A hernia is a piece of intestine that protrudes through the muscular wall, thus the "lump". Intestinal surgery is not entered into lightly as complications can happen very easily. My cousin has the same issue. He has a lump but the docs are hesitant to operate unless it really really bothers him because he suffered complications before. It may be that the surgeons' hands are tied with regard to his insurance that unless there is a protrusion the surgery may not be authorized but only your doctor can speak to that issue. Which Linux distribution should I use (please read details)?

I've been using Linux for a while now and know my way around. I've recently tried OpenSUSE, Kubuntu, Fedora 9 (with both Gnome and KDE), Gentoo, and Ubuntu. I prefer the Gnome desktop environment over KDE and am using a laptop with a 64 bit processor. I'm currently using Ubuntu 8.04 but am getting bored of how easy and simple it is to use. I really like Fedora, but version 9 has problems on my laptop. If you could give me any advice on your favorite distro, or one that you think I may like, that'd be great. Thank You!

Your question re toxic fumes is justified, but as another respondent has said there's zip to fret about unless the actual CFL (Compact Fluorescent lamp) gl is fractured or breaks when you remove it from the light socket. There are approximately 20 electronic components in the base of these complex lights and what I've noted when some of them burn out, usually well before the stated 6000- 8000 hours of the expected life of these things. the Electrolytic Capacitor (6 +mF at 400v - 500volts) usually blows it "top" as it becomes pressurised over time before it pops it's expandable cap as a safety measure. The act of the capacitor detonating can be the the reason why you heard a "pop" and in some cases I've investigated why , a 2.2 ohm X 1/2 watt resistor will also open circuit with a pssst. and also with a section of the printed circuit (copper strip) dis integrating off the PC cct. board either Fiber Gl or similar material. As said these type of lamps are supposed to be more economical to run but the saving in power usage is out weighed by the carbon emission and by the cost of having to buy more than other earlier Fluorescent type tubes or incandescent globes etc. You also have to appreciate that trillions of these CFLs are manufactured in Asian countries for world usage and any amount of "green house Co2) gases from their creation just escapes into the atmosphere in huge amounts.

Also, she says her muscles, especially in her legs, have been tightening up. She has been to the doctor, but they just give her a pain killer, which also doesn't help. went to Golden Sands a coupl of years ago. nessabar (think thats how to spell it) was nice. Certainly cheaper than other holidays I have been on, however, I go to visit the country and this was a little limited at that time. The food in the hotel was luke warm but plenty of it. Th beaches at the two resorts I saw where clean and food / drink cheap. Whilst I enjoyed it I have since been to other places such as Side in Turkey which I preferred. Aquarium Canister Filter Help!!!?

I purchased a canister filter off ebay and in every tray it has a white filter wool pad. Well the pads are dirty now and I want to use regular filter wool cause its WAY cheaper. Each Tray has a filter pad and a media. One has carbon then the next has ceramic rings and the last has a blue filter pad on top of a white one then some Seachem Matrix. Is all this even neccessary? Can I use 1 for carbon, 1 for bio media and 1 for filter wool? The filter is working great but its time to clean it.

Could my lupus be leukemia?

I have been diagnosed with lupus for 3 years. I take prednisone because nothing else really works for me. My new doctor just called me after a new blood test telling me that my white blood cell count is very low. I say I know, it always is. I am told that since I am on the prednisone, my white blood cell count should have gone back up and not stayed so low. After some internet research I see that leukemia CAN be mistaken as lupus, but nothing is completely straightforward. Now I am all worried, do I have any basis for worrying that I could have leukemia?

Can I sue AT&T for them using sleazy and maybe bogus collection agencies?

I feel like I was taken advantage of by AT&T. I had to cancel 4 lines on my account. ( This has been some time ago, maybe 2 years) I was charged for cancellation fees, not too bad since it's in the contract. It ended up being almost 1,000 dollars to cancel my service. It inevitably went to collections. I was hared by them and was threatened by them. They said if I didn't pay then and there that they were pressing charges against me. So I ended up paying them on a credit card. They said the 800 some dollars would settle the debt. Well that showed up on my statement like it should have, but another UNAUTHORIZED amount was also taken out a week later. They took an extra 300 dollars that I didn't authorize and was unable to get in contact with the "Collection Agency" again. I think it was a fraud. AT&T wouldn't let me have that collection agency's number. I finally squeezed it out of a rep when I mentioned "Lawyer" in the sentence. It was a fake number. I don't know what AT&T is running but I'm really upset because...... I was contacted by ANOTHER collection agency about 3 months ago. They said I still owed almost 300 dollars. I was in shock. So I called AT&T and they told me to take it up with the collection agency. So I did, I told the new agency that I paid the balance in full a few years ago. They said if I faxed over the credit card statement then I'd be left alone. I did that, and they still call at least three times a week. So much for that being settled. I can't for the life of me understand why our damn legal system is this messed up that they can't put regulations on collection agencies or on cell phone providers. Any advice would be appreciated, I'm only thinking of suing AT&T because 1- I can't get hold of the former collection agency, which called themselves CCA or "Collection Company of America" to try and resolve this and 2- because AT&T hires these collection agencies to represent AT&T when they collect. In my opinion, AT&T is fully responsible for what happens to people's accounts and should keep records of every person that's done business with them. When I contacted AT&T just about 2 months ago, they couldn't give me any records of my standings, account, debts, or any other pertinent information. Do I have any grounds?

Ok, so we were denied an FHA for 190k!!! my husband is 1099, so they took the net income and of course was not enough to finance us. I worked for an independent mattress retailer for about a year and a half. It was clified as a small business but we sold a lot of beds out of there. Anyway, recently I decided to stake my own claim and open up a shop of my own. To make a very long story very short, the owner was none too pleased. Anyway, my primary advertising strategy involves Craigslist and so far he's flagged just about every ad I've placed...and I've posted about 7 so far in a week! I've not flagged any of his ads because I'm not going get into a "spat" with him and be his chief rival...that's not how I roll. Our market is big enough for both of us to succeed. Is there a way to keep my ads from getting flagged by him? Is there a limit to how many ads you can flag in one day? How can I keep him from infringing on my advertising strategy on craigslist?

Taekwondo--Should I try boxing?

I'm a 15 year old girl and a blue belt in taekwondo (the belt system goes white/yellow stripe/yellow/green stripe/green/blue stripe/Blue/red stripe/red/black stripe/black, and then the12 degrees of black). I really want to try boxing, but I'm a little apprehensive. We do sparring in taekwondo, but that's with lots of gear on and light contact. How can I add more horsepower to my 1994 2.2L 4cyl Honda Accord LX without doing a motor swap and saving a bit of money? I have already done an (AEM-V2) cold air intake, an (OBX Racing) headers and a (Borla XR-1 Racing sportsman Oval Muffler) custom cat back exhaust. What else can I do to improve the horse power? I was thinking an ECU upgrade but don't know how much that will help. Another problem I've been having, is sometimes the car has problems starting. Especially after running for a little while and then starting it again. I've replaced the alternator(3x) the battery, the plugs and wires, the ignitor switch, the distributor, rotar on, you name it i've tried it and it just keeps happening. I have noticed that there is a little bit of oil getting into one of my spark plugs and i've replaced the seals but that didn't help much. I bought a new dress which was slightly too long. Took it to the tailor for a simple hem alteration-shortening. When I picked it up, the back was 3 inches shorter than the front. You need to take her to the vet as soon as you can. She probably has either conjunctivitis (a contagious eye infection) or an injury. The only way to tell which one she has is by special drops the vet will put in her eye and use a black light to see and check for injury. Don't use any drops on your own. Antibiotic drops for an eye infection will make her go blind if she has an injury in her eye.

So this is my third pregnancy both previous were sections and I am having a repeat with this baby. I am 37 weeks and have been contracting all day and night today 14-15 minutes apart about 35 seconds long and on the pamphlet from my dr. says only to call when you have more than five in an hour. And I have had that problem before and called and they said to drink something cold and lay on my left side and if they get to being 7 minutes apart to call back. Well I have already tried water and left side and I am still contracting ever 14-15 min. for 30-35sec. each. I can physically feel her head pushing down and I am hurting like hell. I had2 hooded female rats and unfortunately I had to put down one yesterday because an infection sprang upon her from post op surgery for mammory tumors. They've been together since I got them two years ago as babies and I was wondering if I should get my other one a cagemate because my parents work a lot and won't have time to constantly hold her and give her affection. I'm sorry to hear about the situation your in but really guys are jerks like that and once you get pregnant things change. I'm not sure what goes on in there head. If its that they know we are pregnant and theres not much we can do anymore or what. Then, hero Jack comes into the mystery going to the place where he meets Beth and they side up, Beth says she went a different way, turns out she had just gotten off the phone with Sarah's dad and is leading him to the interrogation as an act they pretend to knock out Beth, and leave them both in the alleyway. Jack wakes up and sees Beth "knocked out" he goes to her to wake her up, and notices a broken bottle behind a dumpster in the alley. This is where he gets his first suspicion about the kidnapping/murder attempt at first, he thinks of just a petty mugging but he knows, if that was true the mugger wouldn't have taken her with him. It must have been a rapist. He wakes up Beth and shows her the bottle which is cracked and bloody. She reacts oddly, And Jack feels awkward, but ignores it. They continue down the path, Jack finding little trails of blood until Beth turns on him, and the mystery is solved, he questions her,and some what interrogates her, but the cops were called by someone who saw, they take him into custody, but who would they believe, stalker boy, or teenage friend... then you can play around with how he gets out and finds her and stuff....

Intellectual guys virgins by choice or cirstance?

I noticed that a lot of intellectual guys I have come across (not nerds or geeks obsessed with star wars or anime but very educated, philosophical type guys) tell me they are virgins. I have a tendency to ask very personal questions bluntly even when just meeting someone. I never asked them though if they chose to remain a virgin up til that point or if it is just cirstantial. Don't get me wrong I in no way think there is anything wrong with a man choosing to wait for marriage or until he finds his soul mate. I actually find it to be quite unique. But It isn't common. And most of these guys weren't unattractive, and they had great personalities. So I wonder now why they were still virgins. Apple new iPod Touch 8gb 3rd gen. or refurbished?

My current iPod (over a year old, 8gb 2nd gen) is fritzing so I want to replace it. I've been thinking of getting the refurbished 3rd gen. 8gb from apple at 169 instead of new for 199. The impression I'm getting is that because they test it extensively and replace any malfuncting parts it's basically as good as a brand-new iPod, but of course they can't sell it as such since it technically isn't. Am I right in this umption? And they back it for a year at least, so I guess if something does go wrong I can get it fixed. Either way, should I get the Applecare extended warranty thing? OK, I am feeling pretty weird right now. All day today I had a horrible headache but now it is minor, I also have been coughing quite a bit; low sound but painful plus my eye is throbs every once in awhile... When I get that headache I have to squeeze my temples to hold the pain. A few hours later now I am feeling pretty much apathetic and like I am fading but I am not. Alright, I was driving to the bank the other day and a cop stared talegating me when i was only going 3 over, i didnt care i had cruse control on and maintained. It usually includes all information on them including their address, phone number, all that stuff. You could also try asking around any friends he had in the area and see if they might know where he went or where they think he might go. You know maybe he used to talk about where really wanted to go. Talk to a lawyer, try to find somebody you already know and ask them if there's any legal action you can take to actually get on his record. It makes finding him an imperative to the police once you actually press charges if you can. It's best if you know the lawyer because they can talk to you about whether you can actually press charges and take it to court without paying until you're sure you can. You could also try checking with a government office around the area where he lived to see if you can find out if he had a name change. Dr. Oz from Oprah's show says kids need to try food up to 20 times or more before they develop a taste for it. Just keep having him try new foods like you are. You control what he eats, so don't feed him anytime but meals and don't fix anything special for him, he needs to eat whatever is fixed for the meal. When he gets hungry enough, he will eat. Meat isn't that good for him anyway, just serve peanut er or rice and beans and other things with protein in them. As long as you keep giving him the vitamins, he's fine. What can I do if my Condominium ociation is not caring for the grounds & othe things they should be?

I just bought a condo in Nashville TN over a year ago. Since then I have learned my ociation fee is not being put to use. Some in the complex (only 14 units total) havent paid their ociation fees in a year or more. I pay my bill every month-even though it usually takes 2-3 months before they get around to depositing the check. The pavement is cracked-needs to be re-paved, trees are overgrown, bushes are not trimmed, outside paint is bad, & we have not had an ociation meeting since I moved in over a year ago. Problems with belly ring?

Ive had my ring since march and have bee. Changing it since the end of may after the initial 8 weeks were up. Its been fine , i clean it faithfully etc. But yesterday when i was cleaning it in the shower , it really hurt to move it around. It was like it was stuck ! I squeezed it a bit to make sure there wasnt any discharge and i tiny bit came out. Usually that fixes it but it still hurt ! I figured id take the bar out , clean the hole like that then put the matching bar to the i had in(had just taken the off the last bar and replaced them). Well it took FOREVER to get the bar in ! I tried from the top and bottom and FINALLY it went through...hurt though -____- this morning it still hurts a bit to move. My friend said hers does that from time to time(shes had hers for a fee yrs) and that it just means its a little dry on the inside and to do the sea salt soak(which i havnt done in a while lol) anything els that will help ?

This just happened. I normally cook dinner for my boys, myself and a friend that that lives in the basement. Because neither one of my boys are here, I told my friend I was not cooking dinner. No big deal right. I was kind of hungry so I grabbed a nice leafy green veggie and threw it in the microwave to cook. My friend comes up and says, “did you cook those veggies for you?”. I replied, “Yeah, you want some?” Well she proceeds to get upset with me hollering about me being self centered because I was only cooking the veggies for me. I said, “you ask me a question, I gave you an honest answer; what is the problem?” She rambles on about me not understanding, she said, “you just told me you were not cooking dinner and then I come up and you are cooking for yourself, You are so self centered” I am befuddled how me cooking veggies is such a mistake and self centered. Pretty sure my new house is haunted???????

Tell it to go away and leave you alone. Most of the time that is all it takes. I had the same problem for several years, and finally I got so creeped out one night because it felt like several cats were jumping on and off my bed and running and jumping around my legs that I just said leave me alone and go haunt someone that deserves to be haunted. I haven't had any real problems since then, at least not at my house. I understand how you feel, you would rather believe you are imagining it than have it be real, so the last thing you want to do is tell it to show itself. Even if it doesn't leave, it won't scare you half to death if you tell it to leave you alone. I don't think ghosts know they scare you unless you tell them. ;-)

Student Loans? Help, best way to go about paying these back!!?

I dont agree with paying the smaller ones in this case. Put the subsidized loans on the back burner, they are not going to cost you any more in 2010 than they will today. Yes it is nice to get bills out of the way, but you have to think about what is going to happen with that big loan if you let it sit and grow. He has a big big loan (17,500)with a huge interest rate of 14.25, variable, unsubsidized. That one would be making me very very nervous if I were you. You really need to work on that one or it will snowball and bury you. You could easily end up paying back 50,000 on that one or more if you dont nip it in the bud. You do realize that the 1590 in interest is going to get put into the loan amount and then they are going to calculate more interest on the interest? and the rate is variable meaning it can go up even higher? do you have a home you can pull some equity from to pay that one? can family lend you money to get rid of that one, or can you put up more than 200/month? the others can wait, but that one is going to grow and grow and grow in the next 3 yrs-you wont know what hit you if you dont take care of it early. I sure hope he is a doctor or something

I'm an egyptian-american and i've always had a lot of pride in being egyptian. egypt, to me, always symbolized the pinnacle of strength and leadership in the arab world. My only question is y won't egypt do more in Libya? Now, in asking this question perhaps i'm being a bit naive, but I've tried to do some research but the focus in most of the media hasn't exactly been what egypt's role in this crisis is. Also since i don't live in egypt i've found it harder to really understand the detail about what's going on over there. Ultimately, my question is to any egyptians who might know more than i do. I understand that egypt is busy with reformation of their own government, its just that it kills me to see on the news everyday the different atrocities that go on under ghadafi's rule. Unlike the first response, I thought it was boring. Stories have to be detailed and you're good at that, but you have to capture the reader's attention. Try adding color to your writing. Be a little more exciting because if not, then you could have a problem. And i agree that some sentences are too long. Try making them shorter or make it sound a little less like a speech.
